Chronic hyperglycemia in patients with type 1 diabetes causes cataracts to develop much earlier than retinopathy.[1],[2] With glycemic control, some acute-onset cataracts may be reversible.[1],[2] This case highlights that type 1 diabetics are at an increased risk for cataract formation, Meticulous ophthalmological examination should be carried out, beginning from the very onset of diabetes in such patients.
