A 25-year-old woman with no known systemic diseases experienced sudden vision impairment in the left eye (Snellen VA 20/200). Fundus photography (A) and FA (B) at presentation demonstrated non-perfusion of the cilioretinal artery (arrow head, marked in yellow). Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) (C) showed a hyper-reflective inner retinal layer because of ischemic damage (arrow). After intravitreal dexamethasone implant (Ozurdex®; Allergan Inc, Irvine, CA) injection in the left eye,[1],[2] the vascular perfusion was gradually restored. At 10 weeks, the fundus photography (D) and FA (E) showed improvement of optic nerve swelling, reduction in vascular dilation, and a non-perfusion area (arrow head, marked in yellow). SD-OCT (F) demonstrated improvement of retinal ischemia (arrow) [Figure 1]. The patient's VA improved to 20/20. | Figure 1: This figure demonstrates the resolution of cilioretinal artery occlusion with central retinal vein occlusion in the left eye of a 25-year-old patient

Dexamethasone implant injection seemed to be effective in this single case, but further studies with more patients and longer follow-up are warranted in the future.
