A 10-year-old male child presented to the clinic with complaints of glare in sunlight and difficulty in reading near text. The child's best-corrected visual acuity was 20/50 in both eyes.
Slit-lamp biomicroscopy of the anterior segment revealed the presence of a lamellar cataract along with a sutural cataract in both eyes giving an appearance of a clock-like structure in retro and diffuse illumination technique [Figure 1]a and [Figure 1]b. The posterior segment was within normal in both eyes. | Figure 1: Slit-lamp photograph showing opacities in the fetal nucleus of the crystalline lens in (a) retro and (b) diffuse illumination technique

Sutural and lamellar cataracts are congenital that affect the fetal lens nucleus of the anterior and posterior crystalline lens.[1],[2] Such cataracts do not progress and cause a minimal visual disturbance. These cataracts do not require surgical intervention because there is no effect on vision.[3],[4]
